Data Engineering Intern
About the role
Join us for a three-month, part-time remote internship and help build the data foundations behind our insurance AI work. You will work with sample policy, claims and billing data and learn how data engineering supports AI in a regulated industry.
What you’ll do
- Help build and maintain data pipelines that clean and organize insurance data such as policies, claims and billing
- Write SQL and Python to transform, validate and document datasets
- Run data quality checks and build simple reports or dashboards
- Prepare datasets for AI and machine learning experiments
- Document your work and share what you find with the team
What we’re looking for
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in computer science, data science, engineering, statistics or a related field
- Able to receive academic credit for this internship through your school
- Working knowledge of SQL and Python
- Understanding of basic data concepts such as tables, joins and data cleaning
- Clear communication and the ability to work independently and remotely
- Based in the United States
Nice to have
- Experience with a cloud platform such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with pandas, Spark, dbt or Airflow
- Use of Git for version control
- Interest in insurance, financial services or AI
